Led by the STG Fellows, the talks are a place for informal learning and exchange on global issues affecting different areas of policymaking. The Global Stocktake is a key process to informing the global community on the progress toward the objectives of the Paris Agreement. The first Global Stocktake (GST) will be finalised at the 2023 United National Climate Change Conference (COP28). The process is a key part of the system set up by the Paris Agreement to inform the global community on how the world is progressing in the main dimensions of the agreement: Cutting emissions; Adaptation to climate change; Providing finance and support . The GST will have a key role in informing the upcoming Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) and guide further action in combatting climate change. Despite the main message from the stocktake being a bleak one there is progress in some areas of climate policy. This STG Talk will discuss the overall messages from the global stocktake. It will also emphasise further focus on things that have been working well with the aim of identifying and learning from these positives that can be seen as silver lining in the otherwise cloudy sky. Speakers: Anna Sigurveig Ragnarsdóttir, Policy Leader Fellow Jos Marie R. Delbeke, EIB Climate Chair, EUI School of Transnational Governance Please note this is an in-person event. No zoom link will be provided upon registration. Attachments STG TALKS 2023/24 Programme
