On 9-10 April 2026, the EUI will host the third Annual Conference of the Dynamic Competition Initiative (DCI).
Dynamic competition is making a mark on competition policy. Guidelines, decisions, and judgments now routinely reference dynamic competition, which in itself is a considerable achievement.
However, the depth of understanding behind these references varies. This is understandable, as scholarly work on the theoretical and applied aspects of dynamic competition remains incomplete. Consequently, some ambiguity persists in practice regarding its definition, empirical estimation, and policy relevance.
This conference will critically examine the potential and limits of dynamic competition. It will explore the areas in which dynamic competition is already well understood and incorporated into competition policy. It will also identify gaps in scholarship that must be addressed to develop tools for more systematically integrating dynamic competition. The event is part of the annual conference series organised by the Dynamic Competition Initiative (DCI).
Participation is by invitation only. If you are interested in attending, please contact alice.pineschi@eui.eu.
