Scholars at all career levels are invited to share their work in research, teaching, learning, knowledge sharing and dissemination concerning “Women and Europe.” Proposals from a range of disciplines are welcome, including history, political science, gender and feminist studies, sociology, archival science, economics, digital humanities, and more.
Call for papers: submit your proposal and CV by 19 August 2025
The conference 'Women and Europe – Interdisciplinary approaches, innovative prospects, new sources' will take place at the European University Institute on 10-11 November 2025.
The organisers welcome scholars at all career levels and across the social sciences, humanities and archival sciences fields to propose papers in the areas of European memory and history that incorporate a gender perspective. The conference focuses on a period running from the end of the Second World War to the present.
Suggested topics for paper proposals include but are not limited to:
- papers addressing the theoretical and methodological challenges within an inter-, multi-, and transdisciplinary framework, while simultaneously emphasizing both advanced and collaborative synergies.
- investigations of innovative initiatives and projects across research, teaching, learning, and the dissemination of knowledge within the field.
- examinations of how the transversal digital dimension — as an inherent aspect of research, teaching, learning, knowledge dissemination — shapes the agenda in academia and public engagement.
- explorations of the interplay between archives and digital storytelling in producing new historical knowledge of the past via norms and practices in collecting, preserving, sharing and disseminating the memory of women.
Application and selection
Applicants should submit an abstract of no more than 500 words outlining their proposal and a short CV by 19 August 2025 via the registration link in this announcement.
Please note that should your institution be unable to do so, conference funds are available to support your accommodation and travel expenses.
Selected applicants will be informed by 15 September 2025.
