Join this event to learn how AI-driven tools like the one developed within the POLINE project are transforming access to judicial knowledge and shaping the future of legal interpretation.
This event will feature a live demonstration led by national legal experts showcasing the innovative POLINE Legal Analytics Tool: a platform that harnesses data science, machine learning, and natural language processing (NLP) to analyse judicial decisions. Developed under the POLINE project, the tool enables users to retrieve and explore judicial principles of law within Value Added Tax (VAT) case-law, offering powerful insights into the reasoning of courts. Designed for direct use in Italy, Sweden, and Bulgaria, the platform bridges advanced AI technologies with the practical needs of judges, legal practitioners, and policymakers.
At the core of the tool lies a multidisciplinary approach that integrates theory and practice in judicial decision-making. The project combines the study of judicial principles of law with legal informatics methods to build an ontology of judicial concepts in VAT, alongside manually annotated datasets that train the system to recognise and classify legal reasoning patterns.
Through the application of AI, machine learning, and NLP, the POLINE tool automatically extracts judicial principles, detects textual and semantic similarities, and visualises links between cases, offering a novel way to understand and navigate complex legal systems.
This event will be held in Italian.
