Alba Bosch on the rhythm of time in life trajectories

In this #MyEUIResearch video, Alba Bosch from the Department of Political and Social Sciences explores how we balance present enjoyment with future planning. Drawing on her own experience of changing paths to pursue music, she examines how temporal horizons shape our life decisions.

For Alba, the tension between living in the present and planning for the future is deeply personal. After years of sacrificing present satisfaction for a potential career, constantly moving for work and studies, she made a bold choice: to move back home and study classical music with the sole goal of creating art for art’s sake.

Now, as a researcher at the EUI, Alba studies temporal horizons – how the value we place on the present and the future affects our decisions and life trajectories. Her work navigates largely uncharted territory in sociology, tackling the challenge of measuring something as abstract as our relationship with time.
