The Historical Archives of the European Union has launched the 2026 call for applications for the archival research grant programme supported by the Group of the European People’s Party (EPP Group) in the European Parliament.

The grant programme aims to support scholars interested in conducting and publishing academic research on the history, role, and impact of Christian Democracy, and in particular of the EPP Group in the European Parliament, in the process of European integration.

The grant is aimed at early-stage academics, including master’s and doctoral students and postdoctoral researchers who have completed their doctorate degree no more than three years prior to the date of submission of the application. Up to three research grants may be awarded in 2026.

Successful applicants will receive a grant of €5,000 to cover expenses for carrying out research at the Historical Archives in Florence and/or at the EPP Group’s archives in Brussels. The grant is paid in two instalments, according to the conditions stipulated in the grant agreement.

The research project must result in the publication of an academic article or monograph based on the consultation of primary sources.

The call for applications opens on 9 March 2026 and closes on 15 May 2026.
