Elda Brogi, Scientific Coordinator of the Centre for Media Pluralism and Media Freedom at the Robert Schuman Centre has been recently appointed member of the ‘Committee of Experts on Increasing Resilience of Media’ (MSI-RES).

The new Committee will provide guidance on the use of digital tools including artificial intelligence for journalism, and good practices for sustainable media financing.

“As I expect the committee will delve into the countless new opportunities for journalism AI brings, including better navigating in online dis- and misinformation, but also to the ethical, legal and economic challenges connected to the use of AI in the profession”, said Professor Brogi. “Moreover, as news industry is struggling for its economic sustainability, I expect the committee will suggest concrete policy proposals to support news media, to facilitate new business models, to guarantee decent working conditions to journalists, recognising, once more, their role in ensuring media and information pluralism. I will contribute my experience and research on these topics”, she added.

Elda Brogi has already served as member of various expert committees at the Council of Europe.

Her expertise will significantly contribute to the development and production of recommendations, principles and policy proposals for the media sector and media actors in today’s world.
