In 2025, the European University Institute (EUI) consolidated its position as a leading provider of executive education in policy and governance. Over the year, the Institute delivered more than 50 open courses and several training projects, welcoming international cohorts of professionals from across the world. Participants joined programmes both online and in Florence, engaging with peers from diverse sectors and professional backgrounds.

As it enters its 50th anniversary year and launches the 2026 Executive Education Catalogue, the EUI is now ready to introduce major updates to its executive education offer.

A new website features dedicated sections for professionals and organisations, making it easier to explore open-call courses and tailor-made solutions. New professors and new programmes further strengthen an already extensive portfolio, including the Global Executive Master (GEM), the two-year, part-time, blended programme designed for working policy professionals. This expansion builds on a strong legacy: more than 700 training courses delivered, over 28,000 professionals trained, and participants representing more than 160 nationalities. EUI executive education serves a wide and diverse community from hundreds of organisations worldwide, ranging from local public administrations to EU institutions and international organisations, from central bank officials to public affairs specialists, and from academics and researchers to NGO and think-tank professionals.

To keep cohorts as diverse as possible and widen access to executive education, some courses are part of dedicated scholarship programmes, offering a limited number of tuition-fee waivers. Combined with early-bird and alumni discounts, reduced rates for groups, affiliation-based schemes, and other options linked to the European and Transnational Governance Network (ETGN) Certificate, these incentives foster inclusive learning environments that support networking, collaboration, and the co-creation of knowledge with real-world impact.

This commitment extends well beyond a single year: “for the past 50 years, the European University Institute has served as a meeting point for ideas, cultures, and disciplines to advance knowledge for the public good”, underlined Josephine van Zeben, Provost for Education and Academic Staff Development.

Executive education remains a central pillar of the EUI’s mission and a key driver of the co-creation of knowledge, one of the priorities for the next six years, reinforcing the Institute’s role as an independent and reflexive community at the intersection of academia, politics, and society.

For policy professionals, attending an executive training course means contributing to a collective process of knowledge-creation that translates into actionable insights for day-to-day work and, ultimately, into tangible policy impact in Europe and beyond.

“Now, on our 50th anniversary, what began as a European project has become a global one: a community that connects research excellence with real-world impact,” concluded van Zeben.
