The Historical Archives of the European Union (HAEU) announces the opening of the Europa-Union Baden-Württemberg (EUBW) fonds

The EUBW was created in 1952 upon the merger of three Europa-Union Deutschland federalist associations from the Länder of Württemberg-Baden, Württemberg-Hohenzollen and Südbaden.

The EUBW collection, which dates from 1952 to 2017, consists of correspondence, minutes of meetings of statutory bodies, circulars, informational material and working documents. As EUBW is comprised of autonomous organisations at local levels (Kreis-und Ortsverbände), its archive illustrates the diversity of  ideas promoted in Germany for the creation of a federal Europe.

The materials are an important addition to the Archives’ collections on European federalism, which include, among others, the Jeunesse européenne fédéraliste archives, the Movimento federalista europeo archives, the archives of the Organisation française du Mouvement européen and the Union européenne des fédéralistes archives.

The EUBW archives is the result of a 2019 deposit agreement signed by HAEU Director Dieter Schlenker and Evelyne Gebhardt, State Chairwoman of the Europa-Union Baden-Württemberg.
