ESA Partnership

The partnership aims to strengthen the academic cooperation among the EUI and the three European Supervisory Authorities (ESAs).

Under the newly signed Memorandum, the EUI joins a network of 40 European universities from 14 different countries, which have already partnered with the three Authorities.

In the framework of the MoU, the Authorities will promote a series of traineeship programmes available to EUI master students and PhD researchers, as well as provide opportunities to members of the institutions to deliver lectures at university events.

The European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA) is an independent advisory body to the European Commission, the European Parliament, and the Council of the European Union. It is one of the EU agencies carrying out specific legal, technical, or scientific tasks and providing evidence-based advice, supporting to shape informed policies and laws at EU and national levels.

The European Banking Authority (EBA) is an independent EU Authority which works to ensure effective and consistent prudential regulation and supervision across the European banking sector. Its overall objectives are to maintain financial stability in the EU and to safeguard the integrity, efficiency, and orderly functioning of the banking sector.

The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) is the EU's financial markets regulator and supervisor. It was founded as a direct result of the recommendations of the 2009 de Larosière report, which called for the establishment of a European System of Financial Supervision as a decentralised network.
