Focusing on teaching, learning, and research, the three-year agreement provides a framework of cooperation and facilitates collaboration between both institutions. Moreover, as the first academic partner in the Middle East, the EUI is confident that the collaboration with the DI will enhance the development of joint academic activities in the region.

Under the MoU, the two Parties will seek to promote sabbaticals, visiting professorships, visiting fellowships, and staff visits, together with an exchange programme for researchers at the doctoral and postdoctoral levels. Additionally, both institutions will explore the possibility of establishing a scheme for the international mobility of master students.

Amongst the joint activities, the MoU envisions the joint organisation of workshops and short courses for DI students in Doha and Florence, as well as the creation of teaching opportunities for EUI doctoral candidates and postdoctoral researchers.

Both Parties will work together to organise joint activities addressed to the academic community. In particular, the two institutions will promote joint trainings and summer schools, alongside workshops, conferences, research collaborative projects, and further academic and scientific events. Lastly, the EUI and DI will encourage the mutual exchange of publications, and scientific and teaching material.

The Doha Institute for Graduate Studies (DI) was founded in Qatar in 2015 as a Doha-based independent institution of higher education. The Institute offers MA and PhD programmes in two schools: the School of Social Sciences and Humanities and the School of Economics, Administration and Public Policy. The Institute adopts a student-centred approach to learning and promotes interdisciplinary research.

Any further information on this partnership may be obtained from the EUI External Relations office.
