Alina Soloviova is a Jean-Monnet Fellow at the Robert Schuman Centre. Her academic interests include European law, self-determination, territorial integrity, and sovereignty in post-Soviet states, particularly Ukraine. After serving as a Scientific Consultant for the Civil Chamber at the Supreme Court of Ukraine, Alina has used her knowledge of the legal system to enhance the efficiency of the litigation system and promote fairness. Her research focuses on the tension between the right to self-determination, territorial integrity, and the inviolability of borders, and their impact on the stability and security of sovereign states. Alina worked as Scientific Consultant to the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine on issues of good governance and standards of the rule of law. She has more than two decades of experience teaching law to undergraduate and postgraduate students, including PhD candidates. She holds a PhD in Law, and gained Habilitation in Comparative Criminal Law in 2019.
