Biography

Enrico Cavallotti is a PhD Candidate in Economics at Trinity College Dublin. During his PhD studies, he was a visiting PhD scholar at Columbia University in spring 2025 and at CERGIC-ENS Lyon in autumn 2024.

Prior to his PhD studies, he obtained a MSc in Economics and Social Sciences from Bocconi University and a BSc in Economics, Markets and Institutions from the University of Bologna.

Enrico’s research lies at the intersection of political economy, environmental economics, and the economics of crime. He investigates the economic and institutional drivers of criminal behaviour alongside the determinants of green voting and citizen support for environmental policies.

As a Max Weber Fellow, Enrico will examine how climate shifts influence criminal groups and how those groups adapt. He plans to investigate how they tap into natural resources and sway environmental regulations for their own benefit. More broadly, he will trace the connections between changing climate conditions, resource availability, and patterns of criminal behaviour.
