Biography

Maria Luisa Andrisani has been a lawyer and negotiator in the Directorate General for Trade of the European Commission for more than six years. She represented the European Union in the bilateral trade negotiations with Canada and Chile and in the multilateral negotiations on investment dispute settlement reform at the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law. She has been in charge of trade and investment disputes before the World Trade Organization and the Court of Justice of the European Union. Her recent work focused on developing rules to ban forced labour products and on providing legal advice on key European Green Deal initiatives. She also worked as a university assistant in public international law at Roma Tre University. She holds a Master's Degree in Law from the University of Cambridge and a Law Degree from LUISS University in Rome.

During her time as Visiting Fellow at the STG, she will examine how trade policies can contribute to climate, economic security and equality objectives in today’s fragmented multilateral system.
