Biography

Monika Kawczyńska is a Visiting Fellow at the Department of Law of the European University Institute and Assistant Professor at the Chair of European Law at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków. Her research focuses on EU constitutional and procedural law, in particular judicial protection, interim measures, the rule of law, and the relationship between EU law and national constitutional systems.

Her recent work examines the use and enforcement of interim measures in proceedings before the Court of Justice of the European Union, including financial penalties for non-compliance with interim orders. She has also published on judicial independence, constitutional dialogue, EU liability and remedies, and the constitutional traditions of the Member States.

Before joining the Jagiellonian University, she spent nine years at the Constitutional Tribunal of Poland, where she served as a legal expert and judicial assistant to the Vice-President of the Court. She holds a PhD in Law from the Jagiellonian University and an LL.M. in European Union Law from KU Leuven, and is also a qualified attorney-at-law.
