Morshed Mannan is a legal researcher focusing on blockchain governance and platform cooperatives. He received his Ph.D. from Leiden Law School, Leiden University on the emergence of democratic firms in the platform economy. He is member of the BlockchainGov research project and a Research Affiliate of the Institute for the Cooperative Digital Economy at The New School in New York City. Prior to the MWF programme, Morshed was a Research Associate at the Robert Schuman Centre. During the course of his Ph.D., Morshed acted as an expert for the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs on the legal framework for platform cooperatives and consulted for the International Co-operative Alliance and the NCBA CLUSA-International on topics of cooperative law.As a Max Weber Fellow, Morshed hopes to continue researching his two main interests. In addition to writing articles with his MWF mentor, Dr. Primavera de Filippi, Morshed hopes to publish a book building on his doctoral dissertation. He will also continue to serve as a section editor of the Internet Policy Review. During his time at the EUI, he wishes to collaborate with other Max Weber Fellows who share his research interests.Expertise for Teaching and Mentoring of Ph.D. ResearchersSince 2012, Morshed has had experience in lecturing and coordinating courses on international commercial law, administrative law, comparative corporate law, and media law at B.A. and M.A. level at the London College of Legal Studies (Bangladesh), Leiden Law School, The New School and the Higher School of Economics in Moscow. He has also supervised several B.A. and M.A. theses.
