This project explores variation in paramilitary violence against LGBT people during the Colombian Civil War. It questions why these groups get targeted and how these groupsget targeted with an analytical focus on brutality. This project pursues an inductive research design of two case-study sites in Colombia to present a theory of anti-LGBT violence during war. It uses research from political theory, sociology, as well as sexualityand gender studies to deepen understandings in political science of the relationship between social transformation and civil war violence by revealing the processes through which violence tied to wartime logics has socio-political effects.
