Purpose
Declare Design is a software suite written in R that can be used to think through all aspects of a research design in advance of doing the work. The research can be qualitative or quantitative, and use experimental or observational data. A new textbook (Research Design in the Social Sciences: Declaration, Diagnosis, and Redesign, Princeton University Press 2023), written by Graeme Blair, Alexander Coppock, and Macartan Humphreys, accompanies the software. The textbook is essential for learning to operate DD in all aspects but in-person instruction is also essential.
