Another year of successful co-operation with the FMA

Posted on 19 April 2018

The educational programme at the Historical Archives of the European Union (HAEU) has completed another successful year of collaboration with the European Parliament Former Members Association (FMA).

This collaboration involved formers members of the European Parliament meeting with Florentine students and sharing their experiences in European politics and their thoughts about the European Union.

The 2017/2018 programme examined the themes of Brexit, Migration and the rising of nationalist movements across Europe. Former MEPs Monica Baldi, Luciana Castellina, Vitaliano Gemelli, Gisela Kallenbach, Niccolò Rinaldi, Riccardo Ventre, and Sir Graham Watson visited the Archives and spoke to the students.

Members of the educational team at the HAEU say: “The collaboration with the FMA has given substantive added value to our seminars for schools. All students should be given the opportunity to meet personalities who have spent part of their life and career in European institutions; it is a great chance to enhance their understanding of the EU’s importance in citizens’ lives.”
