The EUI engages and partners with higher education institutions and other organisations in the Western Balkans, in order to foster joint research, promote dialogue and knowledge transfer for educational and scientific purposes, as well as to facilitate mobility of students, researchers, faculty and staff, and create internship opportunities for master’s students

Widening Europe Programme
With the support of the European Union and EUI Contracting States, in December 2023, the EUI launched its Widening Europe Programme, aimed at enhancing scientific collaborations with universities in the Widening countries, by carrying out a series of academic activities for early-stage researchers, faculty and administrative staff, such doctoral and postdoctoral scholarships, mobility and exchange and other joint academic events. Students and scholars from the Western Balkan countries are also among the beneficiaries of and contributors to this Programme.
