About us

Who we are

Be they former researchers or fellows, the EUI welcomes the strong attachment our alumni feel toward the Institute, especially their willingness to continue to engage with it and be part of its life.

For the EUI, alumni represent a fundamental source of advice and political support, as well as a resource in curriculum development and a reference point for our researchers as they seek to build their own careers. Indeed, we want to keep in touch and continue interacting not only with researchers who have completed their Ph.D.s or LLMs, but also with those who have participated in our Max Weber, Jean Monnet, and Fernand Braudel Fellowship Programmes.

MTNG, the place to be? Lorenzo's journey back to the start

Lorenzo Diez Picazo is an alum of the Florence School of Transnational Governance. After finishing his traineeship at the European Investment Bank, he is now a Research Assistant at the Barcelona Center for European Studies.

From law research to EU customs policy: Alumnus George Papaconstantinou's path

George Papaconstantinou, EUI Law PhD (2015–2019), reflects on his years at the EUI, the academic freedom that shaped his thinking, and how high-level exchanges influenced his path from private legal practice to EU policymaking.

Carolina Lopez Quiles is an EUI PhD alumna in economics (2015-2021), supervised by Ramon Marimon and Russell Cooper. She is an economist at the IMF, based in Washington D.C. and she returned to campus in June, to join the EUI Alumni Conference in Economics.
