“It was an honour to speak at the EUI 50th anniversary event, not in my own name but in the name of generations of EUI researchers, many of whom could not be present, asking whether the EUI is missing a trick by failing to dip into the large and diverse pool of alumni talent which it played such an instrumental part in forming”.

– EUI alumna and professor Síofra O'Leary served as President of the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) in Strasbourg from November 2022 to July 2024, becoming the first woman to hold the position.

Be they former researchers or fellows, the EUI welcomes the strong attachment our alumni feel toward the Institute, especially their willingness to continue to engage with it and be part of its life.

For the EUI, alumni represent a fundamental source of advice and political support, as well as a resource in curriculum development and a reference point for our researchers as they seek to build their own careers. Indeed, we want to keep in touch and continue interacting not only with researchers who have completed their Ph.D.s or LLMs, but also with those who have participated in our Max Weber, Jean Monnet, and Fernand Braudel Fellowship Programmes.
