The EUI welcomes Mr Kostas Bakoyannis, Mayor of Athens, to discuss the state of play of green transition that he is trying to achieve in the city of Athens. Drawing from his experience, Mr Bakoyannis will discuss:
- How can a city in Europe become a green city within the next five years?
- How is this transformation being handled by the City Hall of Athens?
- Could the example of Athens act as a good practice for other cities in Europe?
- What are the priorities, major obstacles and benefits of this movement towards green cities?
- What are the main elements of a city’s green transition and how are rights, democracy and politics engaged in this evolution?
Following the discussion with the panel, there will be an opportunity for the live audience to interact with the speakers via a Q&A.
