The STG Talks, held weekly at Palazzo Buontalenti, serve as a space for discussion for the STG community and beyond. Led by the STG Fellows, the talks are a place for informal learning and exchange on global issues affecting different areas of policymaking.

The panel will discuss how monitoring and evaluation is understood and used to improve accountability and governance, including examples from development projects and policy in different contexts.

The first example will discuss how activism in Liberia can inspire citizens to hold their government accountable, to practice checks and balances for effective governance. Another example will look at how monitoring and evaluation can be used as a management tool to improve education policy development and implementation in Kazakhstan. Lastly, the panelist will discuss how volunteer movements in Ukraine indirectly monitor government actions and contributes to civil society development.
