The Constitutional Law and Politics Working Group and the Human and Fundamental Rights Working Group invite you to a panel discussion featuring journalist Maximilian Steinbeis from Verfassungsblog.

About the author:

Maximilian Steinbeis is a legal journalist, writer, and the founder and director of Verfassungsblog. Since its foundation in 2009, Verfassungsblog has become a key platform for discourses on public, European, and international law, with 2.6 million visits to the site in 2024 alone. It allows academics and practitioners to engage with developments all around the world as they are unfolding. Beyond his own activities on the blog, Dr Steinbeis has recently published a book on populism and constitutionalism in Germany.

About the discussion:

Dr Steinbeis will present the Verfassungsblog’s recent research projects on the interactions between authoritarian populism and the judicial branch of government in Germany. The panel discussion will expand the focus beyond Germany, tackling implications for Central and Eastern Europe and the European Union as a whole. The conversation will also touch on the role of blogs in academia and how to effectively bridge the gap between (legal) scholars and policy-makers.

This event is part of the Workshop: How to write a (Verfassungs)blog.
