Jasminka Pecotić Kaufman is Professor of Law at the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Zagreb, and Part-Time Professor at the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies of the European University Institute (EUI). She is President of the Croatian Competition Law and Policy Association, Academic Society for Competition Law (ASCOLA) Board Member, Co-Director of the ASCOLA South-Europe Chapter, and Editorial Board Member of the Yearbook of Antitrust and Regulatory Studies (YARS). A former Jean Monnet Fellow and a Fernand Braudel Senior Fellow at the EUI, her research focuses on the challenges of enforcing competition rules in European post-socialist countries. Her recent publications include ‘Competition Law and Policy in the Western Balkans’ (Springer 2025), ‘Lessons from Competition Law Enforcement in Central and Eastern Europe: Trade Associations’ (with Prof M Bernatt, EUI-RSC Working Paper 2024) and ‘Judicial Interpretation and Competition Law Enforcement: Authoritarian Legal Culture, Semantic Dissonance and Skewed Agencification in Post-Socialist Croatia’ (2023 48(3-4) Review of Central and East European Law). She is Co-Principal Investigator (with Prof N Petit) for the EUI Widening Europe research project ‘COMPO 1.0 - Competition System Maturity and Cartel Enforcement in Selected Widening Countries’.
