Research project Artificial intelligence, algorithms, markets and competition Print Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on LinkedIn Send by email Autonomous algorithms powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI) are spreading in markets for several purposes. For example, pricing strategies are nowadays often delegated to algorithms, not only in sectors such as energy or finance but also in mass online marketplaces. Although AI in markets can boost efficiency, the effects of interacting autonomous algorithms on market outcomes and competition are mostly unknown, as well as the proper enforcement tools for antitrust authorities. This long standing and ambitious research project aims at studying the consequences of algorithms in markets and possible policy remedies.
