Using Zotero

Zotero

Zotero [zoh-TAIR-oh] is a free, easy-to-use tool to help you collect, manage, zotero newcite and share your research sources.

Zotero captures what is visible with the browser when doing research: full web pages, blogs, wikis, bibliographic information from multiple databases.

Installing Zotero

Go to the Zotero download page to get the Zotero 5.0 standalone software and browser's connectors for Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Opera

Using Zotero

  • Set up Zotero to link directly to the full text, when available via EUI LINKS (link resolver to the Library’s e-resources)

  • The EUI Library offers Zotero trainings as part of the Research Skills Sessions available to all EUI members

  • Contact the Zotero tutor who can help you solving individual issues with the software

Using Zotero with EUI Links

It is possible to link citations stored in Zotero with EUI LINKS, the EUI Library's full-text linking service.

Users must first configure the OpenURL preferences in Zotero.

Once this is done, Zotero's Locate button ("Library Lookup") will link directly to EUI Links.

In the Zotero Configuration menu, select "Preferences" as shown here:

Zotero Preferences

Within the Advanced section of Zotero Preferences, select the General tab. In the OpenURL section (highlighted in red here - location varies in different Zotero versions), type in the following string on the Resolver line:

https://biblio.eui.eu/openurl/39EUI_INST/39EUI_INST:39EUI_INST?

Then select 1.0 from the Version pulldown menu then select OK to save.
