VPN Client: Failed to Enable Virtual Adapter


Cisco VPN Client installs fine but shows a "Failed to enable Virtual Adpater" error message after login screen:

Technical Explanation

A Registry key does not get properly updated during the installation of the Cisco VPN Client.



Download, extract and install the following patch:

VPN: Failed to enable virtual adpater - Windows 8 Patch

After extracting the patch from the archive, double-click on the 32bit or 64bit batch file according to the version of your Operating System.
