Selection process and schedule

  • 1st Round of Applications: Deadline for applications and references, 15 January.
  • 2nd round of Applications: Deadline for applications and references, 16 March 2026 at 14:00.
  • February/March/April: Applications are assessed by the departmental selection committee. Pre-selected candidates may be invited for an interview.
  • March/April: Candidates are informed of the selection results by e-mail. For final round applicants, the selection results will be communicated in mid-May.
  • May to July: Formal admission letters are sent by email. Practical information for selected candidates is posted on the Academic Service's web pages. Reserve candidates may be contacted during this period if selected candidates withdraw.
  • End of August: Registration of new researchers, programme and courses starts.

Selection Criteria

  • Academic record: Candidates are expected to have sufficient background in theory and research methodology relevant to the discipline (including mathematics, statistics and economics).
  • Language abilities: All candidates must have a good knowledge of English. The expected minimum level of English language proficiency is C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).
  • GRE Test Scores: Candidates are normally requested to submit a GRE test score.
