High-Level Policy Dialogue organised by the School of Transnational Governance in cooperation with the European Investment Bank (EIB).

New technologies will determine the success of this make-or-break decade for climate change. The IEA Net Zero by 2050 report has stated that almost half of the emission reductions in 2050 in its 1.5°C scenario come from technologies that are known but not yet mature. The challenge is to guide these innovations to the market, bring costs down through learning and scaling them up. In this High Level Policy Dialogue on innovation finance we will discuss how this can be done. How can the success of solar and wind be repeated with other low-carbon technologies needed for net zero? What financial instruments are needed to support and accelerate the route to market? What technology strategy should EIB and its counterparties develop?

Following the recommendations that come out of the discussion, the organisers will publish a policy brief as part of their public mission.

Attendance at this event is by invitation only and all deliberations will take place under the Chatham House rule (no views or positions may be attributed publicly to any participant).
