New library agreements with the British Institute and the Institut Français

The EUI Library and Real Estate and Facilities Service negotiated two new agreements with the British Institute and the Institut Français libraries in Florence.

In celebration of World Book Day and Sant Jordi, which take place this year on 23 April, the EUI Library will host a series of initiatives, both on and offline, in the preceding days on 20-22 April. In this regard, the Library and Real Estate and Facilities are also delighted to announce two new agreements which will allow EUI members to borrow books in English and in French at a discounted rate.

The Harold Acton library at the British Institute in Florence was founded in 1917 and is one of the largest English language lending libraries in Europe. The library holds a vast collection of material on English and Italian literature, history, and history of art in addition to newspapers, periodicals and DVDs. The library, overlooking the Arno from its heritage rooms of Palazzo Lanfredini, also organises various events and presentations. The annual membership for EUI members is of €50.

The library at the Institut Français is actually a médiathèque, meaning that it holds books, newspapers, magazines but also DVDs and, additionally, it provides access to culturethèque, a digital platform holding additional magazines, newspapers, books, comics and audio-visual documents. The annual membership for EUI members is of €15.
