Call for Papers: 2nd annual Graduate Conference

Posted on 08 January 2018

After a very successful first conference, the Alcide De Gasperi Research Centre (ADGRC) has opened a call for papers for its 2nd annual Graduate Conference on the History of European Integration, which will be held in Florence on 10-12 September 2018.

PhD students and early career researchers, no more than 5 years from PhD completion, are invited to submit an abstract of no more than 300 words and a short CV by 31 March 2018.

The conference is a joint initiative between ADGRC and the two European associations of young researchers, RICHIE (Réseau international de jeunes chercheurs en histoire de l’intégration européenne) and HEIRS (History of European integration research society).

The Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies (RSCAS) and the Department of History and Civilization (HEC) also support the event.

The conference is a unique setting for young academics to discuss ongoing research related to the history of European integration. The conference consists of panel sessions focused on submitted research papers, as well as debates on historiographical and methodological approaches.

The aim of the conference is to provide an informal atmosphere in which new ideas and research directions, as well as advice on publishing and academic careers can be shared and debated.

“Typically conferences are about a broad topic such as Europe since the French revolution. Just bringing together so many experts in this specific field and being able to exchange ideas at that level is a rare opportunity,” said Grace Ballor after the last annual graduate conference, where she was one of the presenters.
