Updated fonds

The sub-fonds containing the publications of the EIB has been enriched with a new series «Publications thématiques/évènementielles» consisting of 150 files, which are now available (inventory and digitised documents) online.

These brochures were edited by the EIB in a random manner, to commemorate a particular event (forums, conferences, field trips, multi-party financial agreements) or initiatives in which the EIB was interested such as a particular work projects, where it wished to mobilise its team and its resources (decontamination of the Mediterranean shore) or the procedures specific to the bank (drawing up of markets). The publications tackle diverse themes and offer a huge amount of information of great  importance on the bank’s activities in the European Union and with associated countries.

A new sub-fonds of the EIB  «Aides, dons et subsides exceptionnels», and the related series concerning the period 1958–1980, composed of 53 files is now accessible online (inventory and digitised documents).

This series deals with the lesser known activities of the bank, ie. the agreement of subsidies in the annual budget, where the beneficiary  was under no obligation to reimburse under strictly defined conditions. The aid allocated by the EIB between 1958 and 1980 went towards the reconstruction of countries hit by climatic catastrophes, earthquakes and armed conflicts (notably in the aftermath of the civil war in the Lebanon), support for cultural programmes and the preservation of the countries’ heritage.

The EIB fonds has been enriched with a new sub-fonds « Immeubles, bâtiments et sièges de la BEI » of which the first series, composed of 95 is now consultable online (inventory and digitised documents).

These documents retrace the various phases of the search for a headquarters for the Bank and the almost endless search for suitable premises from the period of its temporary move to Brussels in 1958 up until the construction and subsequent move to the Bank’s actual premises at plateau de Kirchberg  in Luxembourg, at the beginning of the 1980’s.

The serie Minutes of Meetings of the Board of Directors of the EIB has been completed by 98 files containing the minutes of meetings of the said Council from 1975 to 1980.

Furthermore, the Rules of Procedure the EIB approved by the Council of Governors on the 4 December 1958, updated and modified on various occasions between 1973 and 2005 and the Staff Regulation of 1998, have been added to this fonds.

This transfer consisting of 105 files  are now available for consultation (inventory and digitised documents) online.

The BAC fonds has been enriched with the transfer from the Commission Archives’ Service (Brussels) of a further 2,148 files in 2011. These files have been integrated into 27 BAC series and cover three decades from the 1950’s to the 1970’s.

The material deals with the first Commission programmes in its fight against poverty, the application of Treaty rules, and finally the debates on industry, especially in relation to iron and steel, within the European Communities. There are also the minutes of Commission meetings up until December 1981.

The inventories for the BAC fonds  are available on the HAEU's website and on the Commission Archives data base, ARCHIS. The fonds  is open for consultation in accordance with the 30-year access rule.
