By the end of the course students will

• have refreshed their German knowledge after the summer break
• be prepared to start the A2 level
• be more confident in their already acquired German language competences

The course includes work on the following:

• repetition of the basic grammar and syntax
• expanding vocabulary through reading and speaking

In this course we work with various methods such as the cognitive, constructivist, audio-lingual/ audio-visual and communicative approach in order to train all the language skills (reading, listening, speaking, writing) and to suit the needs of different types of learners.

Activities in and out of class include:

• expanding your vocabulary
• grammar and syntax exercises
• reading and writing short texts
• listening and speaking exercises (phonetics and intonation)
• conversations, videoclips, online materials

Silke Tork teaches German at the EUI Centre for Academic Literacies and Languages (CALL).

She graduated as Magistra Artium in Comparative Literature Studies, Philosophy and German Philology (Westfalische Wilhelms-Universitat Munster, 2006). She further specialised in Deutsch als Fremdsprache with  a focus on German as a foreign language in Academia (Westfalische Wilhelms-Universitat Munster, 2009). Afterwards she worked as a DAAD-lecturer at the universities of Catania and Palermo, Sicily. On her return she conducted a research project at the Test DaF-Intstitut and also holds examiner's certificates for TestDaF and Goethe exams. Before joining the EUI in 2016 she taught German language at the Language Centre of the University of Oldenburg and developed a study module to facilitate the entry of refugees at the university. Her current research interests are academic reading skills, translanguaging, multimodal interaction and multilingualism.
