Impact of Covid-19 on the Swedish Academic Job Market in the Social Sciences and Humanities

The absence of a strict lockdown permitted the Swedish economy to continue without major setbacks. A similar situation is found in the Swedish academic labour market. Here, there have not been major cuts to funding and new hiring.

Swedish academia has been active during the Covid-19 crisis. Several calls for funding on the topic have been summed up on the website of the Karolinska Institutet. On the webpage, decisions that have been taken on current funding have also been listed. Moreover, on the webpage of Formas, the Swedish Research Council for Sustainable Development,  there is a long list of projects and calls related to the Covid-19 crisis funded by the government.
