European Data Portal
The European Data Portal provides access to 860,000 public datasets from 35 countries (European Union member states, the EEA, Switzerland and countries in the EU Neighbourhood Policy programme). Data resources are indexed by the European Commission from national, regional, local and domain-specific public data providers. The interface is available in six languages.
An advanced search tool facilitates the discovery of public open data. Data can also be retrieved by geographical location. The portal has been developed by the European Commission, Capgemini, INTRASOFT International, Fraunhofer Fokus, con terra, Sogeti, the Open Data Institute, TimeLex and the University of Southampton.
The European Commision also maintains the Joint Research Center Data Catalogue.
In 2018, the European Commission adopted an Implementation Roadmap for the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) for a “fit-for-purpose, pan-European federation of research data infrastructures, with a view to moving from the current fragmentation, to a situation where data is easy to store, find, share and re-use.”
Series contain up to five decades of statistical observations. Coverage varies depending on national, regional, local or domain-specific public data providers.
