The private papers of Emilio Colombo have arrived in Florence at the HAEU for treatment, inventorying and digitisation, following the signature in December 2019 of a cooperation agreement between the HAEU and the Luigi Sturzo Institute, where the papers have been deposited.

As archival repository on German foreign policy, it is not only important for knowledge management at the Federal Foreign Office, but also as invaluable source for research into the history of diplomacy, international relations, and European integration. The HAEU in Florence has collaborated actively over many years with the Politisches Archiv.

HAEU Activity Report 2019 available

Description
Over the year 2019, HAEU archivists treated, processed and published in the archival database 60,448 files, 90% of which belong to EU institutional holdings. Digitisation continued with 10,645 items digitised in 2019.

Letter of Alcide De Gasperi donated to the HAEU

Description
On Tuesday July 28, 2020, Prof. Dr. Manfred Hinz from the University of Passau visited the EUI to donate a historical document to the HAEU. The donation consists in an original letter from Alcide De Gasperi, then President of the Council and Minister of Foreign Affairs, written on June 18, 1946, and addressed to the American Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs James Byrnes.

European Society of Culture visits the HAEU

Description
The European Society of Culture deposited its archives at the HAEU under the terms of a deposit contract signed between the then president of the European Society of Culture and the director of the HAEU. The visit at the HAEU was an occasion for the representatives of the European Society of Culture to discover the Villa Salviati premises and to discuss the advancement of the archival processing with a view of organizing the opening of the archives in 2021.
