EUI Tennis Club

The tennis club was established in 2013 when the small group of researchers started to play regularly at Florentia Sporting Club, which is just a few hundred meters away from the EUI. Since then, the group has grown and we have kicked off some new initiatives targeting both beginners and advanced players.

Who can join?

Everybody: the Tennis Club was born as a platform for people who had never or only occasionally played tennis before. Over time, we managed to create a stable platform also for more advanced players. The membership gives access to discounted fees at the Florentia Sporting Club and puts you in touch with many other players via the EUI Tennis Club Facebook page. For more advanced players, the Tennis Club also provides weekly training with a group of researchers and members of the staff. 

Where?

The Florentia Sporting Club is only a few hundred meters away from the Badia Fiesolana and Villa Salviati. Its address is Vicolo del Cionfo 4/A, next to via Faentina. The phone number of the Club is 055 577320 and to book a court is sufficient to call this number and explain that you are a EUI member – to play at discounted rates you must be on the list of the EUI Tennis Club. The Florentia Tennis Club has a bar, showers, changing rooms, and five tennis court – three of which, between October and April, are indoor. 

Membership

Membership allows you to play at the Florentia Sporting Club at discounted rates (50% off the normal price on court rental) and, during certain specific windows of time, take tennis classes at Florentia at discounted rates (20% off the normal price). Because of our agreement with the Florentia Tennis Club, the membership is limited to 40 people, at least 50% of whom must be researchers. The membership works on a first-comes-first-served basis: when there are already 40 registered players, new members will have to stay on a waiting list until a new spot becomes available. Membership must be renewed every year in September.
