EUI Computer Usage Policy

Computer Room PCs

To prevent anyone from accessing personal data, email, web browsing history, etc., and to avoid any misuse:

  • Users must lock their computer if leaving it momentarily while logged in.

Do this by pressing Ctrl-Alt-Delete keys on the keyboard and by clicking Lock Computer on screen.

 

Furthermore, please respect your fellow users when using public access Computer Rooms:

  • DO NOT leave a computer unattended and/or locked for over 15 minutes.

According to the rule established by Researcher Representatives, if you leave a computer unattended for over 15 minutes, anyone waiting has the right to log you out and begin their own work. 

 

Office PCs

PLEASE NOTE:

  • The ICT Service is NOT responsible for any data lost on unattended PCs.  
  • Users who fail to lock their computer, thereby (potentially) leaving the IT infrastructure vulnerable to misuse by others, may face sanctions as per Combating IT Resources Misuse and Hacking Policy.
